Well, Well, Well

In a not-so surprising move by the school board today, the trustees voted yet again to waste our limited district dollars on lawyers and nonsense.  I guess the $50,000 that they already spent on Mr. Kinsler so far to stop the process of democracy is not enough of a waste.  Now they want to sue the county committee???

After almost 3 hours of closed session, Addonizio, Bryson, Christensen, Winsten, and Maddox (who wasn’t on the dais at the beginning of the meeting but driving around the parking lot instead) came out and announced that “CUSD has voted to retain legal counsel in regards to the September 30 meeting of the county committee”.   Also interesting to note is that Dr. Mahler had driven away (very fast) about 45 minutes before this and probably was not part of that decision/discussion.

It’s just amazing to me that a school board can complain about the cost of the election out of one side of their mouth while at the very same time vote to spend more money on nonsense out of the other side.  How much will this little legal battle cost us and is this what the constituents of CUSD want?  I don’t think so!

In addition to all of the money to be spent on this new lawsuit, we saw four (4) attorney’s go into the back room today.  So how much at “overtime” pay on a Saturday did that cost us?

More wasted dollars at the hands of our school board and not one penny going to the children or education.  Shameful!!!

    Erin,

Since when is the Superintendent of the school district allowed in closed session meetings of the Board?

Not one penny for children? The $50,000 that you write of is 0.01 percent of the taxpayer funds expended by CUSD each year “for the children”. About 75 percent of the funds expended go for employee pay and benefits. In other words, this $50,000 decision you are crying about cost each CUSD teacher about 0.032 percent of their annual salary (excluding benefits) — assuming as you imply that the money was diverted.

You need to get serious about what you want and stop complaining about what they are doing.

Teachers union? Are you listening? I support you. You need to support us! This board is fighting parents and we need your support! Join the fight for Local Control. Not just your “support” but your numbers. Your ability to act. PTA isn’t politically organized to fight the Education Alliance. And it will come down to CUSD parents against an outside political organization trying to take over control. Help US!

  3. 35YearVeteran Says:

Thanks Erin for all you do. We need supportive parents. The Board is not good for this District or the kids. We need forward thinking, responsible people. We will prevail.

  4. Voter who Really Really Really Cares Says:

Superintendents are ALWAYS in closed session unless the board is doing his/her evaluation. $50,000 no big deal? You have clearly lost your senses. That could pay for 2 classified employees, several sections for a high school, or materials and supplies - like paper - for the classroom.

Thank you, Erin, for you tenacity and courage.

  5. San Clemente Mom Says:

How many “really”s does it take to convince people who know you’re lying? None. People aren’t that stupid!

  6. sancmom Says:

Beware, somebody who calls herself “Mom who cares” will no doubt be posting on this soon. I have read some of her other postings on Ms. Kutnik’s website and “mom who cares” is frightful. In addition to getting a poor education (good grief–her communication skills are horrific), she seems to only be trying to keep her hubby (?) in the money. She has a twisted perception that Erin Kutnik has a few buds who want to bring her back to power and nothing else is real. I know very little about Kutnik, but what I DO know is that an overwhelming majority of people share a similar opinion about the school board and the voting proposal in common with Kutnik. That’s all I need to understand. Well, that plus the pitiful 3rd grader hysteria and attempts at bitch-slapping so apparent in the pro-school board people–yep, their tactics and postings are enough to make anybody support the “other” side. Go away “MomWC”–you are really embarrassing yourself and your cronies more than you can imagine.

    crazy, crazy group you are.

  8. Mom Who Really Cares Says:

“Mom who (thinks) she cares” is a part of the group that is coordinating our board spending CUSD money to sue the County Committee to fight off the change to the voting procedures. She is an unhappy, sad person who we might feel sorry for except that her bitterness and quest for revenge keeps her tied to the recall king and queen (and we all know who that is) and their antics. Those actions may start backfiring now that the electorate has awoken to their actions. We shall see. Thank you Erin for keeping up this communication.

  9. sjdh Says:

Thanks Erin! You have more people standing behind you now than you can imagine!

  10. Erin Says:

    Not behind me…with me! Thanks!

  11. Local Control Now Says:

I value my vote more with every board meeting — and one vote with some local control is worth seven that get me no representation! Is it true that spending our school district’s money to fight this ballot measure is illegal? That would mean the Bealls can fight it, but without the Board’s support. But what about the Board fighting it with a lawsuit? Can they use my tax dollars for that?
