Oh the irony
When I first decided to run for central committee, I didn’t plan to put much, if any, energy into running. I was going to put my name on the ballot and just see what happened. When I pulled my papers, I was one of eight running so I figured I had pretty good odds. By the time the filing period closed, I was one of fourteen!
Then when they pulled the alphabetical order and I was LAST, I figured there was no chance. Most people don’t pay any attention to central committee and certainly aren’t going to read through that many names.
Therefore I was truly shocked on Tuesday night when the first results showed me in fourth place. Of course, it was early and only absentee ballots had been counted but typically the first results stay pretty close. Well not this time. By Wednesday morning, I had slipped to seventh place. The four of us in those few slots were very close in votes and the three below me all moved up pushing me to number 7.
Most think it’s because on the precinct ballot my name was in a separate column and it was hard to tell I was part of that group. I voted absentee so I didn’t see that. It was pretty ironic though to think I wouldn’t win, then think I would, and then not win. Oh well.
Thank you to everyone who voted for me and congratulations to the six winners!
